![]() Occasionally the voices were poorly balanced, so I couldn't hear what they were saying over the music (like Garfield). The character dialogue during a race seemed rather tacked on, with lines being spoken/shouted while their mouths are closed, or the character doesn't make any movements to help match the dialog. This element of creating a 'team' could've been explained a lot better. ![]() At first I couldn't figure out why it wanted me to select additional characters over and over. When starting an actual game, it asks you to select an "Engineer" and "Mechanic" and other characters. As for the gameplay itself, there is a tutorial at the very beginning but there are all these different gameplay mechanics that are confusing at first and didn't seem to be introduced very well. There is an auto-accelerate option in Kart Racers 3 (like in MK8), but then you lose an element of driving control. especially when making a game aimed a kids. Developers, please think about the size/ability of kids' hands when asking someone to hold down a shoulder/trigger button constantly. The Switch controller is also smaller in general. In Mario Kart 8, you hold the A button to accelerate, which is much easier for smaller hands. Holding down the shoulder button to accelerate was causing my daughter's finger to ache after one race (she frequently finishes top 5 in Fortnite, so she's not a stranger to gaming). There's currently no option to change the controller button layout. ![]() Then there's about 6 other pages to go through to select your kart and other options, but for each option we had to press the A button at least 2-3 times in order to make a selection. I had to press the A button three times just to select my character. When selecting a character to start a race (in local two player mode), the menu was sluggish and unresponsive. Fortnite, on the other hand, rarely dips from a buttery-smooth 120fps on my TV. I couldn't wait for the race to be over to give my eyes a break from the choppiness. The frame rate is constantly taking a dive to something like 20-25fps, especially when there is water on screen. I preordered Kart Racers 3 for XBox Series S and got a refund after trying it. The performance is Poor performance on XBox Series S.
